During the 1700's and the 1800's, great changes took place in the lives and work of the people in several parts of the world. These changes resulted from the development of industrialization.

work became 'caring for and handle machines'
expansion of newspapers and popular book publishing
the environmental pollution began with the Industrial Revolution
working conditions were often unsanitary
dangerous work
women and child labor:
families became dependent on the wages of women and children
women mostly worked in textile factories and in coal mines
Sometimes a better standard of living -
education suffered because of the demands of work

also many factory workers were children
